This book made me laugh before I even received it. When Rachel reached out to me and asked if she could send me her book, I waited with anticipation. When it came, I immediately tore open the package and began to read!
In the first few pages the author gives the reader a lot of information about understanding and embracing childhood expressions. She references the “taboo” words and what exactly makes them “taboo”. She presents the question of “Why do kids swear?”
She also includes a message to read to your kids called “A Little Learners Guide to Swear Words.”
After reading through the book, I found the swearwords weren’t really as bad I thought they would be. The words were so typical from little boys! I say boys, because I feel that they seem to gravitate to them, a little bit more, than little girls do. As the author addresses in the book, positive or negative reactions, will make them more curious and reinforces the use of the words.
Whether you agree with her methods or not, you have to admit, that this mamma did her research! Anytime a book creates dialogue, and brings children and parents together, while encouraging communication. Makes for a good book!
