Here’s to you, Dad!! I love you! This book is one of my favorites. I believe that it truly is a classic and speaks to anyone who has ever loved someone like my dad. My dad was hardworking, dependable, and loyal to a fault. Just like in The Giving Tree, my dad lived a simple life while always being generous, without any expectation in return. What a remarkable quality to have. He loved and took care of my mom while she was ill for the last 20 years of her life. He took care of neighbors, without their knowledge. He taught elementary school for 33 years while administering one of the most successful reading programs in the state. He helped countless students learn a love of reading. He was truly someone to be proud of and I will always be grateful for his example of loyalty, hard work, and kindness to others without expectation.
