Noodles Noodles Everywhere
What a journey this has been. It feels like just yesterday that I set out to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a children’s book author. It all began with The Adventures of Bronx, inspired by my sweet 5-year-old grandson who just so happens to have Down syndrome. I’ve also been blessed with a nephew, Beckem, and a cousin, Shay—both of whom carried that beautiful extra chromosome. Our family has experienced so much joy, love, and perspective because of Down syndrome, and I knew I had to share that beauty with the world.
Along the way, I’ve learned more than I ever expected. Collaborating with illustrators—both seasoned and new—came with its own challenges. Then there was formatting, publishing, and the most difficult of all: marketing. I’ll admit, I once had visions of a New York Times Bestseller appearing overnight. But reality had other plans. The road has been long, filled with tears, frustration, small wins, and moments of pure joy. That’s why receiving this wonderful award means so much to me.
Winning the Literary Titan Gold Award for my precious book brought an overwhelming sense of joy and validation. Deep down, I always believed in the quality of my work. I had chosen my illustrators with care, poured my heart into every word, and tried my best to bring each story to life. Still, I often wondered if the world would ever truly see or appreciate the love and effort behind my books.
Now, with renewed confidence, I’m excited to submit my other works and continue this incredible journey. Here’s to taking leaps of faith, trusting your path, and never giving up on your dreams—because sometimes, the slowest journeys lead to the most beautiful destinations.
