This was such a charming and heartwarming book. Lady Mouse and Wolfy are the best of friends, and they plan a fun day at the beach together. Lady Mouse has ADHD, while Wolfy is autistic, and their unique personalities shape their day in thoughtful and relatable ways.
Wolfy is anxious about the train ride—worried about loud noises and misplacing his ticket. He has every detail of the day planned out, from the train schedule to lunch and a beach stroll. Lady Mouse, in contrast, is more spontaneous—almost late and nearly forgets her beach bag. Their differences come to light in a gentle, authentic way.
After lunch, the day takes a turn when Wolfy can’t find his bag, and knowing how much he dislikes getting sand in his fur, Lady Mouse becomes deeply concerned. Together, they retrace their steps and thankfully find it. The day ends happily with ice cream, bringing everything full circle.
I really appreciated how the author used such a simple, everyday adventure to highlight common traits of autism and ADHD. It was done with sensitivity and positivity, making it both engaging and accessible for young readers. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it!
