This book was absolutely adorable! I can’t decide whether I loved it so much because I adore hats, enjoy going to the beach, or simply cherished the reminder of spending time with my own grandma. Either way, this story gave me all the feels.
Hattie is a little girl who’s so excited to spend the day at the beach with her grandma. But just as she’s heading to her grandma’s house, it starts to rain. Hattie is heartbroken, thinking her whole day has been ruined.
Thankfully, Grandma has a wonderful idea. She tells Hattie about the many hats she’s collected from her travels with Grandpa—one from each place they visited. Whenever she feels down, she puts on one of the hats and lets her imagination take her back to that special place. Hattie decides to try it herself. She digs through the collection, finds a beach hat, and soon she’s imagining the perfect sunny day at the beach.
This story is incredibly charming, and the illustrations are absolutely delightful. It’s a beautiful way to show children how to use their imagination and find joy—even when things don’t go as planned.
