Dasher and the Polar Bear

Written and Illustrated by: Matt Tavares

This book is part of a delightful series of Christmas stories, which makes it especially fun to have a collection devoted entirely to the holiday season. I loved the illustrations, and I was especially impressed that the author both wrote and illustrated the book—a talent that truly shines on every page.

The story follows Dasher and his friend George the polar bear. George dreams of flying just like Dasher, and he can’t understand why he’s unable to soar through the sky. Curious and caring, Dasher asks his mom why George can’t fly, and she gently explains that not all Christmas magic works the same way for everyone. (And yes, Dasher is clearly inspired by the reindeer who pull Santa’s sleigh!)

In the end, Dasher and George discover a unique and magical solution—George gets his chance to fly by riding in Santa’s sleigh on Christmas night. It’s a heartwarming, imaginative story filled with Christmas magic, and a wonderful new release just in time for the holiday season.
