Llama llama Graduation Day

An Anna Dewdney Book

I’ve always loved the Llama Llama series, so I was so sad when I learned that Anna Dewdney passed away from brain cancer in 2016. She created such a special series that so many children and parents connected with. Thankfully, other authors and illustrators have continued Llama’s stories in such a sweet and thoughtful way.

In this adorable book, Llama is getting ready to graduate from kindergarten and move on to something new. Instead of feeling excited, he’s nervous about leaving behind his teacher, his friends, and all the things he loves about school. The idea of change feels scary and uncertain.

As the story goes on, Llama starts thinking about all the things he has already learned to do. He learned how to read, made friends, and worked through things that once felt hard. Little by little, he realizes that maybe he really is ready for this next step after all.

This book is such a great read for little ones who are anxious about leaving preschool or kindergarten. I love the gentle reminder that even when something feels scary, kids are capable of doing hard things. It’s a comforting story that will help children feel a little more confident about big changes.
