I always love finding books that make learning fun, and this one definitely does. Even though it was written by an independent author, it was such a great educational read. The story is written in rhyme, which keeps it engaging while covering so many important moments in American history.
It takes readers from the Declaration of Independence and the Women’s Rights Movement to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the moon landing, making history feel exciting instead of overwhelming. I also really liked that it includes a glossary of important terms and a list of the states in the order they joined the Union. Those little extras make it a great resource to go back to after reading.
I’d recommend this book for slightly older children who are ready to learn more about the people and events that shaped our country. It’s an enjoyable way to introduce history, and I came away feeling like I had learned something too.
