There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shark

It’s finally Shark Week, and of course I have a book for that! This one is part of the There Was an Old Lady series, and what a fun way to introduce sharks to children while sneaking in a little learning along the way.

These books are always so silly and engaging, and the illustrations are so much fun! I love a good shark book, but I especially love that this series brings back memories from my own childhood. I kept thinking about the old rhyme, “There was an old lady who swallowed a fly…” It’s funny how those childhood favorites stick with you!

In this story, the old lady is getting ready for a beach party, and naturally, she starts swallowing everything she needs for a fun day at the beach. A lifeguard chair, a beach ball, sunglasses—you name it, she swallows it!

I love how this book takes something that can sometimes be a little scary for kids, like sharks, and turns it into a silly and fun day at the beach. It’s a great Shark Week read and a fun one to share with little shark lovers!
