Me and Mama

This book was absolutely beautiful and it’s easy to see why it won the Coretta Scott King Award and received a Caldecott Honor. It tells such a sweet story about the love between a mother and daughter in the most simple and meaningful ways.

I really loved how the book focused on everyday moments like brushing teeth, eating breakfast together, playing outside, and sharing goodnight kisses. Those little moments are what make family relationships so special, and this story captured them perfectly.

It also felt like such a lovely Mother’s Day book. The whole story was warm, gentle, and full of love. The illustrations were gorgeous too. They had a nostalgic feel to them, especially in the tiny details like the bowls, cups, and kitchen scenes. It made the book feel cozy and familiar.

I absolutely loved this one and would highly recommend it.
